November and December

Well, the past 2 months have just been 1 problem after another....I need to rename this blog "Crisis of the Week" or even "Crisis of the Day"!!

Here is a small sampling of many of the crisis I had in November and December in no particular order......

1. 1998 Camry overdue for oil change, 17 year old daughter drives it the most and never made it to get the oil changed as we instructed...then it started making noises, then she got oil changed, made more noise...you guessed it....threw a rod! So now engine has to be rebuilt. My husband who has always done all our auto repairs, is still having the terrible back problems, but he has started slowly working on it. He has found several parts on Ebay at a great discount, thank goodness!

2. 16 year old son went on field trip to the "International Food Festival". He did not follow directions and was left at the place. His teacher called AFTER they got back to school and frantically told me he had not come back! Great!! Long story, short, he called me, was safe with a friend of his and this friend's aunt who brought him home.

3. The next Monday after field trip incident, I find out my son is suspended for 3 days because THEY left him at the place.......

4. Last week, my 17 year old daughter (the one mentioned in #1), is driving my 1999 Honda Passport home from school and has a fender bender (her fault)!!!!! The Camry is still disassembled and now the Passport is out of commission until it can be fixed...$500 deductible....that we do not have. She already has had to give us money she makes from her part-time job toward the Camry being fixed.

These are just a few of the problems we have been experiencing lately....I would have to say this year has been one of the worst as far as problems in our 20 year marriage.....but it could be a lot worse, so I won't complain too much!

Update on Gas Prices

So, I understand gasoline prices are less than here in South Alabama in other parts of the country, but I'm still happy with ours....at least it's better than the $3.99 we got up to!

Left Behind

Hey Everyone!

I know it's been a while since I posted, but was dealing with some personal issues.

Has anyone read the "Left Behind" series by Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins that was published around 1995? Didn't know it had been that long!!

Anyway, I read this series a few years after it came out.....and I have read the whole series twice since then......and just recently with all the world events, I decided to read it again and have already finished the first two books.

If you want a good read, check them out......yes, it's about what Christians call the "Rapture"....but you don't have to be a Christian to read it....it follows a fictional group of characters that were "Left Behind" and their "adventures".....there is a lot of Biblical prophecy and scripture in the books, but much of the storyline is from the minds of the authors.

Gasoline Prices

Isn't it insane that just a little under 2 months ago, my area of south Alabama was looking at gas prices close to $4.00/gallon. Then the "stock market crisis" started and the prices have been dropping steadily Every Day!

This is what I paid for gasoline today at the Wal-Mart!

My Favorite Time of the Year

I would have to say that the period from October through December is my favorite time of the year.

I live in south Alabama, and it really doesn't starting cooling off til about the middle of October, plus the humidity typically gets lower, so it's verrrryy nice outside right now (and I'm inside typing on my computer, lol!). I think I need to find away to take it outside!

My Favorite Blogging Buddy!

Let me introduce everyone to my favorite blogging buddy. Actually, she is my 3 year old Tabby cat named appropriately "Tabby" (Tabitha is her official name!).

She loves to keep me company at my dining room table where I have my laptop set up. She'll lay next to it, behind it or my favorite...right in front of the keyboard when I'm trying to type, visit blogs, etc.!

When I get up to take a coffee break or something, she is quick to grab my chair.....

Been Sick

So I know that a lot of people have been sick lately with all sorts of junk.

I felt left out, so I developed some "sinus problems" on top of my regular "bad sinuses"!

I was coughing, wheezing, sneezing, blowing, but no fever for about 2 weeks. After getting two hours of sleep one night from coughing, wheezing, difficulty breathing I decided I needed to go to the doctor because I finally decided this was not going to "just go away"!

The doctor diagnosed me with the exact same thing I had about a year ago....sinusitis, bronchitis, and asthma of unknown origin, lol! He prescribed a steriod, antibiotic, inhaler and to take an over the counter sinus product......so tonight I had to take 2 steroid pills, antibiotic pill and sinus pill---4 total! That's a lot for me.

After 2 days, I am feeling muuuuuucccchhhh better. I can function without becoming short of breath and the coughing and other symptoms have subsided.....but now it's "that time of the month!" It figures!!!! Oh yeah, so add 2 ibuprofen on top of the 4 pills I had to take for sinuses!

It's Been Awhile!

Yes, it's been quite a while since I posted on this blog, but I will now be trying to post regularly.

I have been pretty busy with getting kids back into school -- one in 10th grade and one a senior in high school. I'm already anticipating a good cry at her graduation!

Also busy with work. Work 3p-11p shift in hospital as operating room nurse. Very interesting.

And battling my health insurance company over MD visits for my husband who hurt his back in December of last year and hasn't been able to work since. He has degenerative disk disease in lower back. We are contemplating having surgery.

O.K., I'm caught up for now and will post again soon!

Well, I live along the Gulf Coast in southern Alabama.....great usually, unless a Hurricane comes a'knockin'! So, here we are 3 years post Katrina and eagerly anticipating which way Gustav will go. Guess we'll just have to wait it out. No reason to panic....just get supplies......'just in case'.
